What is a Patient Participation Group?
A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of people who are patients of the surgery and want to help it work as well as it can for patients, doctors and staff. The NHS requires every practice to have a PPG.
Riverside Surgery Patient Participation Group
The aim of the Riverside Surgery Patient Participation Group (PPG) is to ensure patients and carers are involved in decisions about the range, shape and quality of services provided by their practice.
The Riverside Surgery PPG meets every two months to encourage engagement and discuss a wide range of patient ideas and improvements.
If you would like more information about the Riverside Surgery Patient Participation Group or are interested in becoming a member of the group, please email: nl.b1109@nhs.net and put ‘PPG’ in the email subject title, or leave your name and contact details with reception. Arrangements will be made for the Chair of the group, or another member, to contact you.

Riverside Surgery PPG Objectives:
- Promote the proactive and innovative involvement of patients and carers
- Be a critical friend of the practice
- Be representative to reflect the demographics of the registered population
- Advise the practice on the patient perspective and provide insight into the responsiveness and quality of services
- Encourage communities’ health
- Carry out research into the views of those who use the practice
- Support the practice to organise health promotion events
- Together with the Practice support on-going communication with the patient population
